Contact SalesHow OZ Minerals removed contractor admin from site attendance — paperless, virtual, seamless
When OZ Minerals briefed ComplyFlow, the requirement was unusually direct: deliver a paperless, flexible, virtual solution that takes admin out of contractor site attendance and makes the experience seamless. ComplyFlow delivered a single integrated workflow — OKTA-connected, API-integrated to OZ Minerals' core business systems, and supported by digital onboarding content that walks contractors through the process step by step.
OZ Minerals was acquired by BHP Group in May 2023. The deployment described here now sits within the BHP group of operations.
At a glance
- 1 site
- 200+ contractor companies
- 3,000+ workers
- API + OKTA integrated with OZ Minerals' core business systems
The challenge
Site attendance at a mining operation is admin-heavy by default. Worker competency, contractor compliance, induction status, and qualification currency all have to be verified before a person sets foot on site — and at OZ Minerals, that verification was being done by humans, with paper, against systems that didn't speak to each other.
Two problems compounded each other. The first was the human cost: every site attendance generated administrative load on safety and operations teams. The second was the contractor experience: the more friction at the gate, the more time contractors lost waiting instead of working.
OZ Minerals didn't want a digital version of the same paper process. They wanted a paperless, flexible, virtual rebuild — one that took admin out of the equation entirely, gave contractors a seamless experience, and gave OZ Minerals tighter visibility on the operator side.
The solution
ComplyFlow worked closely with OZ Minerals to define the rules of the road: which worker requirements applied at which sites, how API and OKTA integrations would tie ComplyFlow to existing business systems, and how compliance status would surface for end users in real time.
What was delivered:
- Configurable site-level worker compliance requirements mapped to the work being done
- API and OKTA integrations across OZ Minerals' core business systems, for single sign-on and identity continuity
- Real-time visibility for OZ Minerals users into supplier compliance — both company-level and worker-level — including all outstanding requirements at any moment
- Digital onboarding content for contractors and workers: app walk-throughs, onboarding checklists, in-app guidance
- A single workflow for site attendance that replaced the paper trail end-to-end
The combined effect: contractors complete onboarding through the app with no manual handover, and OZ Minerals' compliance, operations, and safety teams get a live read on who is attending site, with what credentials, and against which outstanding requirements.
The outcome
OZ Minerals moved from a high-admin, fragmented attendance process to a single integrated workflow. Contractors onboard through guided digital content; OZ Minerals reviews company and worker compliance from one screen, with outstanding requirements surfaced rather than hunted for; and the API/OKTA layer means worker identity, system access, and compliance state stay in sync without manual reconciliation.
Most importantly, it was delivered in a form contractors actually wanted to use — paperless, mobile, and built for the field rather than the boardroom.
